I have had an overall positive experience using Diigo. It is a platform that allows a registered user to bookmark and tag web pages. One particular part of Diigo I found helpful was the ability to attach sticky notes and highlights to a specific part of a webpage. I also liked that these notes and highlights left could be organized as private as well as public. So far I feel as if I have had a positive experience blogging. I think it is a great resource for people to not only share their opinions but to learn as well. In my own experience I have found that there is a lot of creative freedom when it comes to blogging. In the future I hope to be able to further extend this creative energy by writing more in depth post that highlight my thoughts and opinions more. One Web 2.0 tool that I feel would be beneficial to use in the classroom is Kidblog. This tool would allow students to create their own blogs while interacting with other students as well. I personally did not experience Twitter until many years after it came out. I made my account in 2016 when I was a teenager and used it then primarily to keep up with bands and other musical artist I had been a fan of at the time. Now, I would say I mainly use twitter as a news source to keep up with world-wide events. Twitter could be a great tool to help with ones future career for a variety of reasons, some of them being that it is a great resources to connect with others as well as a great resource for advertising and marketing. The digital divide is a term that is often used to reference the gap between people who have access to technology and the people who do not. As more schools move towards using technology in their classrooms and at home, it could create difficulties for children who do not have access to certain technology, especially if it is required at home for homework. The grade level I chose to discuss for this blog post surrounding the ELA Technology Standards was Kindergarten. The standards listen for Kindergarten are minimal. In short, it ask teachers to guide and support their students through the use of technology and to use a variety of digital tools to help students learn essential skills such as writing and peer work. I feel that i would be equip to meet these standards in the classroom because I have experience with most of the technology the request one be comfortable with, such as a SmartBoard, StoryJumper, and Paint. Issues surrounding copyright and fair use are commonly seen across the internet, but also in real world settings such as the class room. When referring to copyright, most people are often times talking about a form of intellectual property that gives owners the exclusive legal right to make copies or reproductions of a piece of creative work. Fair use, on the other hand, is a policy that exist within the United States that allows the use of a limited form or amount of copyrighted material without having the gain permission from the copyright owner to do so first. This is often done for situations such as teaching, giving criticism, and even news reporting. I would say that in the classroom, one of the easiest ways for a teacher to avoid copyright infringement would be to encourage their students to buy a personal copy of whatever work may be copyrighted. Hello my name is Haley and I am currently a senior at FSU. I am majoring in History with a minor in Political science. After completing my undergraduate degree I hope to continue my education. I eventually hope to become a teacher or professor in a college student setting. I honestly do not believe I have much experience using technology in an educational setting.
